Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This Policy explains what personal data recatation (the "Service", "we") collects, why, and what choices you have. We collect as little as we need to make the Service work.
1. A note on accuracy
The Service helps you choose flights and prepare for travel with a pet, but the information on it may be inaccurate or outdated. Always check airline rules, country requirements and visa rules yourself with official sources before you travel.
2. Data we collect
Searches: route, dates, number of passengers, cabin class and the pet parameters you enter (species, weight, carrier weight, short snout). We store this to show results and to compile anonymous statistics. If you are signed in, the search is linked to your account; it appears in your profile only if you choose to save it. We also store the approximate country of the visitor as provided by our hosting provider; we do not store IP addresses with searches.
Clicks on links to airlines and ticket sellers: which link was clicked and for which search. This helps us improve the Service and understand affiliate commissions.
Account (optional): email address, username, name if you sign in with Google, a password hash (never the password itself), your Google account identifier if you use Google sign-in, interface language, the citizenships you choose to add (used only to show visa-related warnings), the date of your last visit and the approximate country of that visit as provided by our hosting provider, and whether you agreed to receive our emails.
Document checklists you save (optional): the route and travel details, the items you tick, items you add yourself and the sharing setting. If you turn on sharing by link, other signed-in users who have the link can view the checklist (or edit it, if you allow editing). You can turn sharing off at any time.
Notifications: messages we show in your account on the Service, such as replies to your requests and, if you saved your pet's vaccination date, a reminder about one month before it expires, and whether you have read them.
Support requests: your name, email address, the topic and text of your message, the page you wrote from and our replies.
Newsletter (optional): if you subscribe in the footer, at sign-up or in your profile settings, your email address, language and the date you subscribed or unsubscribed. If you have an account, we store your choice in it.
Pets you save (optional): name, species, date of birth, weight, carrier weight and size, short snout, microchip, vaccinations with dates, and rabies antibody test date and result.
Security data: session tokens are stored as hashes; we temporarily keep request counters to protect sign-in from abuse.
3. Why we use it
To provide the Service (search, results, your profile and saved pets), to keep it secure, to fix problems and improve it, and to produce aggregated, anonymous statistics. With your consent, we use analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving the Service, and your consent for non-essential cookies and our newsletter.
With your consent, we email you about changes to pet travel rules and about cheap flights. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for automated decisions about you.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Necessary: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, a language cookie, and your currency choice stored in your browser. These are required for the Service to work.
Analytics with your consent: Google Analytics in your browser, which uses cookies to measure visits and how the Service is used.
Analytics without cookies: if you have not consented to analytics cookies, our server reports page views to Google Analytics and to our hosting provider’s analytics without storing anything in your browser. To count a visit within one day, we use a one-way hash of your IP address and browser type combined with a secret value that changes every day; the hash cannot be linked to you after that day. Your IP address and browser details are not sent to Google. We also send the country of the visit, as determined by our hosting provider, and the page you viewed.
Affiliate and marketing (only with your consent): Travelpayouts tools that attribute bookings made through our links to us. When you follow a link to Aviasales, Trip.com or another seller, that website and Travelpayouts may set their own cookies under their own policies.
You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
5. Who we share data with
Service providers that host and run the Service on our behalf: our hosting and database providers, an email delivery service (for sign-in codes and, if you subscribe, our newsletter), and Google (if you sign in with Google, and Google Analytics for the cookieless page counts described above). With your consent only: Google Analytics cookies and our flight-search partner Travelpayouts (affiliate tracking). They process data under their own terms and only as needed to provide their services.
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the Service and its users.
6. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards offered by these providers.
7. How long we keep data
Account and pet data, saved checklists and notifications: until you delete them or your account. Searches and clicks: linked to your account until you delete the account; after that only anonymous statistics remain. Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or delete your account. Support requests: as long as needed to handle them and keep a record of our correspondence. Sessions expire after 60 days. Sign-in codes expire within minutes.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Correcting your data: you can edit your username, email address, password, pets and citizenships in your profile, and your checklists on the document preparation page. To correct anything else, contact us.
Withdrawing consent: analytics and affiliate cookies — via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page; newsletter — in your profile settings or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before it.
Deleting your data: delete your account in your profile settings — we delete your account and the data linked to it; only anonymous statistics remain.
Getting a copy of your data and other requests: contact us. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you, and we will reply within 30 days.
9. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy and will change the date at the top of this page when we do.
Questions or requests about your data: email us at support@recatation.com or use the form on our Contact page.
